YOKE is for young people aged 18 – 30 years of age. We have talks followed by a meal once a month on a Sunday evening, in the hall of our Church at St Ioannis, Parramatta.
Our 5th talk will occur from 5.30pm on Sunday 6 June and will be on “Orthodox Youth, Culture and Education” by Chris Baghos from St Andrews Theological College.
“YOKE” stands for Young Orthodox striving to Know the Eternal. We liked it as a logo because as Christians we need one another, we need support from others who love God, so the image of oxen yoked together appeals to us. We also resonated with the words of Christ: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Mat. 11:28-30)
